for text messaging, so people can text while they drive, I would definitely use certain noises to represent punctuation.
Spaces = smooch noise
Question Mark= "Huh?" (like, a low noise that goes up in pitch)
Period= lip smack
Exclamation Point= "Ay!"
Like that.
